After developing explanations, what do you understand better?
Before this assignment I did not know anything about solar flares, other solar activity, the sun's magnetic field, differential rotation, etc. In order to understand solar flares, I spent a lot of time trying to understand the Sun itself. As a result, I feel like I could confidently explain what I know about differential rotation and how it affects the Sun's magnetic field. From there I understand that the strange magnetic field creates sunspots, from which solar activity occurs.
What do you still wonder?
I still do not understand magnetic reconnection, which seems to be the most widely-accepted model for what is actually happening during a solar flare. If I were to continue my research that would be what I would focus on, as it explains why solar flares specifically occur. I covered more of the basics to understand why any solar activity occurs (sunspots, differential rotation).
